Saskatoon Opera producing feminist take on Bizet's Carmen
"the safe space director
Anna Theodosakis...created to do so has given the cast a place to have those conversations and parse out those hidden depths."
Enthralling ‘Carmen’ marks a triumphant return for the Saskatoon Opera
"This was not Carmen as it’s been performed a thousand times by companies around the world. Theodosakis wanted the characters to be more nuanced, stripping away Carmen’s oversexualization and making her a complete person"
Directing The Magic Flute
Anna is the Revival Director of the Canadian Opera Company's spring production of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute).
"Canadian director Anna Theodosakis leads the revival of the audience favourite that's cleverly framed as a play within a play; it's the name day for an aristocratic young woman and celebrations involve a massive party, complete with a staging of Mozart's opera. 'I'm excited to welcome families and opera lovers back with this timeless fairytale,' says Theodosakis. 'The Magic Flute celebrates humanity's resilience and it's the perfect opera to reunite audiences and artists under the same roof. Mozart's music here, with its iconic and hummable tunes, is like a big warm hug that leaves you feeling completely rejuvenated!'" (Broadway World)

- Midori Marsh, soprano
"In our first hour of work, Anna instantly provided a space for me to perform, to practice and then to play! Her advice was encouraging and imaginative, and I always left our sessions hungry to discover more. I would recommend her to any performer prepping for an audition, a concert or just wanting to come out of their shell. 100% confidence boost."
- Sacha Smith, soprano
"Anna is an incredibly insightful and patient acting coach. I have had the opportunity to work on both operatic arias and monologues with her and in both situations I leave with a much more confident grasp of who I am, what I am doing and how to organically move through my character’s thoughts and acting beats...I cannot recommend her highly enough!"
